The Project

Arbor Trading Ltd. is a specialist in the supply of component parts, sprung slatted bed frames and electrically adjustable beds. Market leaders to the Furniture, Bedding and Healthcare market, their products are used in both contract and domestic use.Arbor 3

The company has benefited from the Low Carbon programme in the past, securing funding to refurbish their offices and update most of their lighting in the production area. However, there were sets of lights that were not considered as urgent to be replaced at the time.

The lighting consisted of: 10 x Sodium “400 Watt” bulbs, 4 x “200 Watt” outside bulbs, 12 x “144 Watt” fluorescent panels and 6 x Sodium “400 Watt” bulbs. These lights were costing the company over £2,000 per annum in electricity bills, and their maintenance was high as they need frequent changing. Arbor Trading aimed to reduce the carbon emissions from the business and with advice from one of our expert LoCASE Energy Advisors, it was decided that the replacement of the current mix of lighting would help them achieve that.

The Process

Arbor 4Lianne Kerley, Director Support at Arbor Trading Ltd contacted the LoCASE team having already worked with the low carbon programme on a previous project. Following a free energy audit from one of the LoCASE Energy Advisors, the application process was completed & submitted. The next stage was for Arbor to gain the relevant quotes needed. Once speedily approved, James Electrical of Wickford carried out the fitting of the new energy saving lighting system, which was supplied by local South Woodham Ferrers Company, Tech-Supplies.

The OutcomeArbor 2

By receiving a LoCASE grant of over £2,100, Arbor Trading Ltd has been able to ensure that the lighting throughout both the office and production areas meets its needs of cutting both energy consumption and energy bills. With annual savings of 8,358.60 kWh & 3.44 tonnes of CO2e per annum, the annual savings on the energy bill will be almost £1,400.

Testimonial

“We have previously worked with the Low Carbon Programme changing some of our lighting and heating which was a great success. Having received further information and an invite to another local event we were keen to work with the team again to identify other possible opportunities. The process was easy to follow, support and advice available throughout and required paperwork was minimal. We have now installed better lighting systems throughout and as a result seen a reduction on our annual electricity bill… Another successful project and outcome!”
