The Project
A firm of accountants, a mortgage brokers and a wealth management company recently secured premises at the well-known Tarpots location. The premises were built in the 1950’s and much of the fixtures and fittings hadn’t been updated for at least 30 years.
It was with this in mind that Mark Stephen Beckford & Co, an expanding firm of accountants; The PWS Group, a partnership that has been providing financial advice in the locality for several decades, and Beck Wealth Management, a recently incorporated company specialising in wealth management advice who needed the new premises to enable expansion of its business, sought a comprehensive programme of refurbishment. Their aim was to create a comfortable working environment for both staff and clients, to be undertaken in a way that would minimise environmental impact both in the long and short term.
The aim was also for each business to benefit from potential, substantial savings as a direct result of the refurbishment which would include energy efficient LED lighting, replacement insulation to ceilings and partition walls and a new boiler and radiators.
The Process
The businesses sought contact with the LoCASE project through the owner of MSB & Co., Mark Beckford and moved through the application process with the aid of the support that was available via the expert LoCASE energy advisor, resulting in the application being submitted. Once gaining a speedy approval, they were then able to start implementation of the much needed refurbishment.
The Outcome
MSB received a LoCASE grant of over £6,000 towards the total project costs of £15,000. Implementation of the project enabled them to reduce their carbon emissions by 2.137 tonnes and achieve annual cost savings of £509 per year. The project will help support the creation of two new jobs and safeguard six existing jobs within the organisation.
The PWS Group were awarded £8456.88 towards the total project costs of £21,000. Implementation of the project will help them to reduce their carbon emissions by 1.938 tonnes and achieve annual costs savings of £421. The project will also help support the creation of one new job and safeguard five existing jobs within the organisation.
Beck Wealth Management received a LoCASE grant of over £4,800 towards the total project cost of £12,000, a 40{359841609f278dd470ce466616e99c9df7bf3d948850778bd1d3463a3840b22c} contribution. Implementation of the project helped them to reduce their carbon emissions by 1.638 tonnes and achieve annual savings of £376 on their energy costs. The project will help support the creation of two new jobs and safeguard one existing job within the organisation.
